Blackpool woman Viv Critchley has "braved the shave" at the hands of Gordon, all to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support - a charity close to her heart.

Gordon was asked to take the first snip of hair before Viv had her hair fully shaved in support to her close friend Margaret, who is currently battling cancer.

Viv said: "My daughter braved the shave last year and since then I thought, what’s the point in going bald to spread cancer awareness if you’re not raising money for it?

"Gordon did the first cut of my hair. He said it was like beheading Anne Boleyn! He was standing over me with a handful of hair and I think he felt worse about it than I did.

"People assume that losing your hair is a very difficult thing for a woman to do and I suppose in a way it is, but you have to keep these things in perspective. It will grow back - I’ll just be walking around bald for a little while!”

Gordon, who has worked closely with Viv and the Molyneux Drive Community over the years, praised her bravery for doing the shave in support of her friend.

The fun day at the community centre raised a total of £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support
