Kyle Vassell caught the eye as his hat-trick saw Blackpool round off their pre-season tour of Scotland with a 4-3 victory over Peterhead.

Gary Bowyer’s outfit took the lead early on through an own goal but found themselves behind at the break.

In the second interval Vassell was firing on all cylinders and his brace quickly had Blackpool back in the driving seat.

There was still time for another Peterhead free-kick to fly in, but Vassell’s work wasn’t finished and he won it for The Seasiders after good work from Brad Potts.

Blackpool got off to the ideal start, taking the lead just four minutes in. Terrific work from Bright Osayi-Samuel took him to the byline and the winger’s cross was turned into his own net by a Peterhead defender.

Colin Daniel’s lob almost saw Pool increase their lead, but instead they were just grateful to keep it in tact, once Peterhead were awarded a penalty. Kyle Letheren’s foul led to the spot kick, but the goalkeeper made amends by diving to his right and holding on to the penalty.

His joy was short-lived however, as a Peterhead free-kick snuck in and a deflected effort had the Scottish side ahead at the break.

Half-Time: Blackpool 1 Peterhead 2

Half-time substitute Vassell, who has recently spoken about impressing the manager, took his opportunity after the break.

First, the former Peterborough United striker raced onto a great ball from Will Aimson and showed pace and power, before finishing with aplomb.

And Vassell was at it again minutes later, getting on the end of a brilliant cross from Potts to put Blackpool back in front.

However, Peterhead leveled once again from a free-kick, meaning Pool still had work to do.

Thankfully Vassell had the bit between his teeth and the striker finished off a fine team move, knocking home from a Potts pull back.
