Detectives are investigating the events leading up to the death of a Blackpool man who travelled to Turkey and passed away.



42 year old Simon Marx, died in Fethiye, Turkey on October 8th after travelling there for a holiday the previous night.
It is believed that Simon was involved in an altercation between two groups of men at the Newton Arms on Staining Road, Blackpool in the early hours of Saturday morning (7th October).
Police said they were unable to give an address for Mr Marx.
DCI Andy Cribbin from Blackpool Police said: “Firstly my thoughts are with the family and friends of this man during this extremely difficult time.
“At this stage his sudden death is being treated as unexplained.
“We are in contact with the Turkish authorities and a post mortem examination will take place in due course. We are looking at whether the incident involving the two groups could have contributed to his death and would encourage anyone who might have witnessed the altercation or has any information that could help to call us on 101 and quote log number 40 of October 7th”
Specially trained officers are supporting close family members at this time.
