A best-selling author is set to talk at a Blackpool library this summer.

Anna McPartlin wrote last year’s Sunday Times best-seller and Richard and Judy book club pick The Last Days of Rabbit Hayes, which received critical acclaim as it made its way towards the top of the summer book charts.

Her new book, Somewhere Inside of Happy, was released this April and focuses on a mother coming to terms with the loss of her son.

The author, who is also scriptwriter for Holby City and was previously a stand-up comedian, will speak at Layton Library on Wednesday 22 June at 12 noon, where she will talk about her books and her life, as well as being available to answer audience questions.

She will also carry out a signing session for both of her books, which will available to buy at the library.

Tickets for the reading cost £3 and must be booked in advance by calling 478145 or in person at any Blackpool library.

Cllr Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council, said: “It’s a great coup to bring Anna to Layton Library and I’m sure she will be a big hit with people wanting to come to meet her and get their books signed.

“Author talks like this one are a great way of making our libraries offer something different to community and we regularly hold events and talks that people can come along to – which is a great way of getting people reading, as well as seeing all the other local services that libraries can offer.”
