Police are urging businesses near a Blackpool park to check their CCTV footage following reports of an assault on a pair of young girls.

The incident is believed to have occurred on May 18th 2016, sometime between 7.45pm and 8pm, at Highfield Road Park.

Two 11-year-old girls were with another friend when a verbal altercation broke out between them and a pair of girls thought to be aged around 14 or 15.

The two older girls pushed over the younger pair, before pulling their hair and holding them down while banging their heads on the ground.

The victims managed to get away and ran out of the park.

Officers are now urging businesses around the park to check if their CCTV footage captured either of the offenders.

The first offender is described as a white female, around 5ft 3ins tall, of slim build, with shoulder length blonde hair. She was wearing a black crop top with a heart design and denim shorts.

The second offender is described as a white female, around 5ft 4ins tall, of slim build with dark hair which was tied up in a ‘donut’ and a red bow. She was wearing grey leggings and a black and white stripy top.

They were with a young male, thought to be aged around 14 or 15, who had a blonde ‘comb-over’ hairstyle.

PC John Gorst, of Blackpool Police, said: “We have trawled CCTV within the park but haven’t managed to find anything that captured the offenders.

“We are now urging surrounding businesses to check footage from between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on May 18th. If they have managed to capture anyone matching the descriptions given to us by the victims we would urge them to get in touch with us.

“Similarly, if anyone has heard two girls talking about the attack, or has an idea who may be responsible, we would urge them to contact us.

“This was a nasty incident which has left the victims extremely shaken and we are determined to find those responsible.”

Anyone who can help officers with their CCTV appeal, or who has information about the assault, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log number 1422 of May 18th 2016.
