Police are appealing for information after a 60-year-old woman died following a collision in Blackpool.



Police were called around 11.30am on Saturday (August 20) after reports of an accident on Midgeland Road.

A Ford Fiesta, travelling southbound, had collided with a parked Citroen C3 car close to Stockydale Road.

The driver of the Ford, a 60-year-old woman, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment.

She was later transferred to Royal Preston Hospital, but sadly died yesterday morning (August 23).

The road was closed for more than three hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Police are appealing for information following the collision.

Sgt Adam Dawson, of Lancashire Police, said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with this woman and her family.

"We are appealing for information and would ask anyone who can help to come forward and contact police.

"If you were in the Midgeland Road area and witnessed the incident please contact us."
